The things we carry…

Sometimes, you don’t realise how much you’re carrying until you give yourself the opportunity to put everything down.
— Mia in Bali, February 2026

This quote was the first thing I wrote in my journal when I arrived in Bali for my birthday last month.

I travelled without my laptop for once and with less than 5kg of luggage. As I sat with this lightness and freedom, I also found myself reflecting on the weight of everything I had left behind.

The responsibilities, the roles, the routines. All the things I have accumulated and stored away over the days, weeks, months and years.

And I suddenly felt exhausted. Tired of holding on, trying so hard and doing too much.

It’s so easy to get caught up in the day-to-day, as we focus on finding ways to keep pushing ahead, to problem solve and make things work.

But we don’t have an endless capacity to keep taking on new and difficult things.

We need space, time and practices that allow us to recover and experience moments of joy and wonder.

This rainy week in Bali gave me a chance to truly rest and reflect. To slow down, do less, breathe deeply and appreciate the beauty of this magical place.

And so, I invite you to put everything down and join me here in Bali on retreat from 1 - 5 June.

We’ll do yoga, walk among the rice paddies, experience the local culture, enjoy great food and find some much needed peace, clarity and relief in our busy lives.

To live in this world
you must be able
to do three things:
to love what is mortal;
to hold it
against your bones knowing
your own life depends on it;
and, when the time comes to let it go,
to let it go…
