      <image:caption>Iyengar Yoga Association of Australia (IYA) is responsible for maintaining industry-leading standards in the teaching of Iyengar Yoga in Australia. Teacher Training and certification procedures have been established and refined over many years under the guidance of BKS Iyengar, and IYA undertakes assessments for those wishing to teach in the Iyengar method in May and October each year. The certification process: The five levels of certification are: · Introductory · Intermediate Junior (Levels I, II and III) · Intermediate Senior (Levels I, II and III) · Advanced Junior (Levels I, II and III) · Advanced Senior (Levels I, II). Each of the levels of certification has a specific syllabus of asana (poses) and pranayama. In order to pass, a teacher must meet the standard of practice and teaching appropriate for the level, as decided by the Certification Committee. There is also a written component, submitted prior to sitting for assessment.       <image:title>About Mia - Hi I’m Mia!</image:title>
      <image:caption>I’m not particularly active or sporty, nor was I ever a naturally flexible person. In fact my eye-hand coordination is terrible, and I couldn’t touch my toes when I started practising yoga! I was born on the island of Madeira (look it up!) and came to Australia when I was 3 years old. I grew up in south-Sydney before moving to the eastern-suburbs in my 20’s. I moved to Melbourne in 2015 for work a opportunity - and for now, I call it home! I’ve been practicing Iyengar yoga for 15 years, after coming across a school just a few doors down from my apartment in Potts Point in early 2009. I began teacher training in 2011 primarily to deepen my practice and understanding of Iyengar yoga. After almost 7 intensive years of training, I finally became a Certified Iyengar Yoga Teacher in 2019. I’ve been teaching corporate and group yoga classes around Sydney and Melbourne for more than 10 years now and enjoy seeing the light shining in my students eyes after class.</image:caption>

      <image:caption>Join me for 5 days of yoga in Bali’s spiritual heart! I’ve been travelling to Bali for more than a decade and am so excited to share this special place with you. Known as an artists village, Penestanan offers a calmer alternative to the tourist hub of Ubud, with peaceful rice paddy walks and many traditional and modern cafes and restaurants nearby. Our yoga classes will be held at Santra Putra Guesthouse, which has been managed and operated by world-renowned contemporary Balinese artist Wayan Karja and his family since 1989. The family lives on the premises and look out for us during our visit. Surrounded by lush tropical gardens, this unique and tranquil venue is our home away from home.</image:caption>

Alam Wayang Ubud - simple, modern rooms with air-conditioning, and a main resort swimming pool. Less than 5 minutes walk to Santra Putra. Tjampuhan Hotel - bungalows and guest rooms, plus two pools, a spa and restaurant. Only 10 minutes walk to Santra Putra with very steep stairs.
